Mumbai não permite hesitações. É uma cidade que nos obriga a reagir depressa, a sermos empáticos sob pressão e a encontrarmos ordem no caos visual. A densidade populacional é extrema, a luz tropical é dura e imprevisível e os contrastes sociais estão à distância de uma esquina. Ali é fácil encontrar um arranha-céus ao lado de uma comunidade informal ou um templo hindu entre dois restaurantes muçulmanos. O contraste é o denominador comum da cidade.Mumbai does not allow hesitation. It is a city that forces us to react quickly, to be empathetic under pressure and to find order in the visual chaos. The population density is extreme, the tropical light is hard and unpredictable and the social contrasts are a street corner away. There it is easy to find a skyscraper next to an informal community or a Hindu temple between two Muslim restaurants. Contrast is the common denominator of the city.

Durante quatro dias, vamos trabalhar nos bairros que definem Mumbai: Dharavi, onde a economia, apesar de desregulada funciona com uma certa eficiência; Kala Ghoda, o bairro artístico com galerias e vida de rua; Crawford Market com o seu caos comercial; os ghats, onde os pescadores Koli trabalham ao amanhecer; as estações de comboio, onde milhões de pessoas se cruzam todos os dias.During four days, we will work in the neighbourhoods that define Mumbai: Dharavi, where the economy, despite being unregulated, functions with a certain efficiency; Kala Ghoda, the artistic neighbourhood with galleries and street life; Crawford Market with its commercial chaos; the ghats, where the Koli fishermen work at dawn; the train stations, where millions of people cross paths every day.

Apesar da raridade dos constrangimentos, eles poderão acontecer, sendo, no caso, feito um ajuste adequado ao grupo e ao programa da mentoria. Os ritmos propostos na expedição também poderão ser adequados ao grupo nos locais, sem prejuízo dos objectivos da mentoria. A flexibilidade e capacidade de ajuste e adaptação a novas situações acontece todos os dias no trabalho fotográfico e documental. A ideia subjacente a estas expedições é que elas aconteçam sempre em ambiente de aprendizagem informal para que a experiência seja agradável e escorreita.
